Alan Brazil revealed that he believes Brendan Rodgers could be tempted by a move to Tottenham if Mauricio Pochettino departs for Real Madrid.

The talkSPORT pundit shared that he feared Celtic would lose their manager in an interview with the Scottish Sun, revealing that he thought Rodgers could be tempted with a move back to the Premier League.

“Brendan’s credentials are there for all to see, he’d not leave Celtic for any old job, but the top six in England may be attractive to him one day,” Brazil told the newspaper.

The pundit went on to suggest Tottenham as a possible destination for Rodgers as they could lose Pochettino to Real Madrid.

“What about Tottenham?” Brazil rhetorically asked.

“If Poch goes to Real Madrid, and I think he would go if Real come chasing, there could be an opportunity.”

Rodgers won the Scottish Premier League in his first season at the Bhoys and with Celtic currently eight points clear at the top of the league, he’s on course to win another league title with the club at the end of the season.

The 45-year-old has been at the Hoops since May 2016 and has Premier League experience having managed both Swansea City and Liverpool in the division.

OPINION

Rodgers would be an uninspiring choice for Tottenham if Pochettino was to depart. The manager’s spell at Liverpool was far from terrible as under his guidance he managed to bring Champions League football back to Anfield, after the club were absence from the competition for four season. Rodgers also nearly led the Reds to their first league title in years as they finished just two-points behind eventual champions Manchester City in the 2013/14 season. However, given his Champions League record at Celtic, he doesn’t seem the man capable of taking Spurs to the next level. The Hoops have suffered some embarrassing results in the tournament since Rodgers has been in charge, such as when they lost 7-1 to Paris Saint-Germain in November.
