Bournemouth striker Benik Afobe’s loan return to Wolves could be made permanent if the club achieve promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim that there is a clause in his loan deal which would allow Wolves to make the deal a permanent one in the summer if they are promoted, with the club currently 11 points clear at the top of the Championship.

The Mirror report that Afobe, 24, is aware of his need to play his way back into the Wolves side considering the form of his teammates who have fired the club to the top of the second-tier.

Afobe returned to Wolves on deadline day after spending two years at Bournemouth, making 70 appearances for the Cherries and scoring 11 goals after a £10million move.

Prior to that he had a brilliant goalscoring record at Molineux, scoring 23 goals in 49 appearances for Wolves after joining from Arsenal.

Good move for Wolves?

Absolutely.

Afobe knows the club well and should turn out to be a great January signing for the club in the coming weeks.

But it is his Premier League experience with Bournemouth that will be crucial, and will help the club with the transition after promotion, which at this point looks inevitable.

Likely to happen?

Well, firstly it depends on Wolves’ promotion, which looks a given at this point.

Then, it depends on whether the club want to keep Afobe.

As long as the 24-year-old performs admirably for Wolves between now and the end of the season, there is little reason to think that this will not happen.
