BBC pundit Tam McManus has raved about the quality of Rangers attacker Josh Windass and has admitted he is confused by his selection of boo-boys.

The creative playmaker starred on Sunday for the Gers as they beat Hamilton away 5-3 in a thrilling league encounter.

He managed to net a brilliant hat-trick to continue his recent form and now has 15 goals across all competitions this season.

Windass has thrived in the number 10 role behind the striker and is a key member of Graeme Murty’s starting XI.

However, the Englishman still has his selection of doubters and some Gers supporters insist that he is far too inconsistent to be consider a vital player at Ibrox.

The 24-year-old managed just one goal last season for Rangers during his first year with the club, but has reached new levels in the current campaign.

McManus is unsure why Windass does come in for such criticism and has admitted he consider him to be a “quality” player.

“Windass is quality in my opinion. Don’t get the hate from sections of the Rangers support. At all,” McManus wrote on his personal Twitter account.

OPINION

Windass made it look very easy at the weekend against Hamilton and is showing what happens when you continue to make goalscoring chances. The attacker’s finishing has certainly improved in the last six months and he always give himself the opportunity to get on the scoresheet every game. There certainly have been doubters of Windass during his Ibrox spell, but he is in a position where ultimately he will be judged on his goal and assist return. He has now been directly involved in 23 goals this season for Rangers and will be keen for his purple patch of form to continue.
