A ‘Friends of Lyngby’ spokesman confirmed that Aston Villa had held positive talks with the new owners of Danish club Lyngby Boldkulb regarding a possible partnership.

Mads Byder, who is a ‘Friends of Lyngby’ spokesman, spoke with Danish site BT about the meeting that the Villans had with the new owners of Lyngby over striking up a mutually beneficial partnership.

We had a good meeting with Aston Villa management,” said Byder.

“We have shown them our Lyngby DNA both on the pitch and at powerpoint, they seemed interested in our club and they went home with a positive impression after their meeting with the municipality too.”

‘Friends of Lyngby’ are the group that saved Lyngby from going broke last week and after nearly collapsing the Danish Superliga side are keen to strike a deal with a powerful European club, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The potential partnership would see the Villans be able to send their youngsters on loan to Lyngby in order to gain vital experience, with Aston Villa in return investing in the Danish club.

OPINION

This is an exciting proposal and it’s good to hear talks have gone well between the two clubs. If Aston Villa were able to acquire a feeder club it would give their youngsters somewhere to go on loan to get experience, with there being no hassle about finding them a suitable team to join. This could see the Villans develop some exciting talents over the next few years as experience is key to a young player’s development. While it’s a worry that the Danish club were so close to financial ruin, it looks like the worst is over for them. So Aston Villa should continuing pursing this partnership.
