Leeds United fans took to Twitter to hail Pablo Hernandez for his performance in their 1-0 Championship defeat to Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Saturday.
United’s poor run continued as they missed the chance to move back into the Championship play-off places, thanks to Bersant Celina’s long-range strike in the second half.
Celina curled the ball over Felix Wiedwald from 30 yards after Kalvin Phillips lost his footing to seal the points for the home side as Leeds were made to pay for a lack of discipline and poor finishing.
Midfielder Eunan O’Kane was shown a straight red card in the first half for an off-the-ball incident and Thomas Christiansen’s side wasted a series of excellent chances to score an equaliser, with Liam Cooper unfathomably firing over from inside the six yard box 10 minutes from time.
Hernandez pulled the strings for Leeds with an impressive display in the playmaker role made vacant by his fellow Spaniard Samuel Saiz, who was serving the first game of a six-match ban.
The United fans on social media hailed the brilliance of Hernandez, with one claiming he is so good the club “don’t deserve him”.
