West Ham are in the race to sign highly-rated winger Jack Harrison from MLS club New York City, according to the Sentinel.

The newspaper claims that the Hammers are in the race to sign the 21-year-old alongside Stoke and Leicester.

It is understood that Stoke are currently frontrunners for the England Under-21 international and have already seen an opening £3.25million bid rejected.

The report details that Paul Lambert’s side have now tabled an improved second offer to try sign the attacker.

Premier League legend and former New York City midfielder Frank Lampard has tipped Harrison for big things in the future.

“I speak to Jack all the time,” Lampard said to MLSscorrer.com in June 2017. “I think there a lot of big things to come from Jack. I like him, he’s a great lad, great ability.”

Good move for West Ham?

West Ham could do with some attacking reinforcements in January and the upcoming MLS star would be a decent signing.

He is a fleet-footed winger with good pace and has shown during his senior career that he is a serious goal threat.

The wide man has made 61 appearances for New York City, scoring 14 goals and supplying 10 assists.

He is by no means the finished article yet, but is someone who could dazzle in the Premier League in the future.

Likely to happen?

West Ham seem a long way off signing Harrison as Stoke look like winning the race for the Stoke-born ace, who could be tempted by a return to his home city.
