West Ham have asked Swansea City to include midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng in part of a deal for Andre Ayew after the Welsh club tabled an £18million bid for the attacker, according to Sky Sports.

The news outlet claims that the Swans have offered the Hammers £18million to sign Ayew in the January transfer window, but that the Hammers are holding firm on their £20million valuation.

It is understood that David Moyes’ side are willing to sanction the 28-year-old’s exit to his former club Swansea, but want the same £20million fee that they paid for him in 2016.

The report now details that West Ham have made contact with Swansea about including their pass master Ki as part of the deal for Ayew.

Good move for West Ham?

West Ham have enough in attack to sanction the exit of Ayew and recuperating their £20million fee would be a decent piece of business.

However, the suggestion that Ki could be a part of a swap deal is a strange one and he is not a signing that would get fans off the edge of their seat.

Swansea ace Ki is a technically gifted player that is strong in possession and can play a defensive midfield role.

However, the Hammers already have those types of midfielders in their squad and could do with a creative force that can make an influence in the final third too, with Tom Cairney a name heavily linked.

Likely to happen?

Ayew certainly looks set to leave the London Stadium as the two clubs negotiate over a price, but right now it seems unlikely that Ki would be part of a swap deal.

The 88-time capped South Korea international is a mainstay in the Swans starting XI when he is fit and it’s seems unlikely they would get rid amid a relegation battle.
