Everton are interested in signing defensive powerhouse Kevin Vogt from German top-flight club Hoffenheim, according to Bild.

The German news outlet claims that the Toffees have identified the 26-year-old defender as a target given his impressive performances in the Bundesliga.

It is understood that the German centre-back is to replace Ashley Williams in the side at Goodison Park.

The report details that the 6ft 4in colossus would be a huge loss to Hoffenheim if he were to leave in the summer.

Good move for Everton?

Everton could do with a new reinforcement in the heart of their defence and Vogt appears to be an excellent target for them.

The no-nonsense defender has become vital this campaign for Hoffenheim and has captained them for the majority of their games.

He has the versatility to play in midfield, but is at his best when he drops in as a towering defender.

Sam Allardyce’s side do have the likes of Williams and Phil Jagielka as ageing centre-backs in their squad, but moving for an experienced Bundesliga defender seems a smart upgrade.

Likely to happen?

It seems like a summer pursuit for Vogt seems like Everton’s most likely approach and that German outfit Hoffenheim are fearful of losing their key first teamer.

Allardyce prides himself on having a well organised backline and he could be a player for fans to keep an eye out on during the second half of the season.
