Everton defender Michael Keane could still leave the club in the last few days of the January transfer window, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims in its print edition (January 28) that the Toffees are looking to offload him either this month or in the summer.

It is understood that Sam Allardyce is concerned about the quality of the 25-year-old and doesn’t feel he can deal with the pressure at Goodison Park.

The report details that the England international could leave just six months after joining the Merseyside club for £30million, with West Brom’s Jonny Evans and Lille’s Adama Soumaore lined up as centre-back replacements.

Good move for Everton?

Keane has endured a difficult start to his Everton career, but there is no way he should be written off already and sold in January.

The Toffees do have several ageing defenders in their squad and Keane is someone that is still yet to hit his peaks years.

He has the potential to grow into a key first teamer and showed at his previous club Burnley he can be a real leader.

Keane has still made 24 appearances across all competitions this season and the Englishman should be given more time to try justify his heavy price tag.

Likely to happen?

It seems unlikely that Everton would be able to recuperate their £30million transfer fee right now for Keane, but the Sun reports that there is a real belief his exit could be sealed in January.

However, right now it appears unlikely as no clubs have been linked with the ball-playing centre-back and it would have to be a quick deal as Wednesday’s deadline day approaches quickly.
