Everton could land Crystal Palace defender Patrick van Anholt in the January transfer window as he could be used in a potential swap deal for Oumar Niasse, according to the Teamtalk.

The news outlet claims that the Toffees are willing to sanction the exit of their striker Niasse this month following the recent arrival of Cenk Tosun.

It is understood that Premier league rivals are set to make a renewed bid for the 27-year-old to try bring him to Selhurst Park after a summer move collapsed on deadline day.

The report details that Palace could include their defender Van Aanholt as part of a deal to try land Niasse and Everton have been given a boost in their pursuit of the full-back.

Teamtalk previously reported that Everton boss Sam Allardyce was lining up a deal for Van Aanholt as Leighton Baines is not seen as a long-term solution at left-back.

Good move for Everton?

Everton certainly need some fresh competitor at left-back as Baines is currently sidelined through injury and Cuco Martina is suspect to a big mistake.

Van Aanholt, 27, is an interesting player that is on the Toffees radar and he is not exactly the type of big-name signing the fans would want.

The Dutchman has brilliant attacking instincts, but can be caught out defensively and is not currently a guaranteed starter with Palace.

Everton have shown they are willing to spend big in the transfer window and need to find a top quality player if they want someone to succeed Baines in the full-back area.

Likely to happen?

With an exit for Niasse seemingly on the cards there is every chance that Van Aanholt could move the other way to Goodison Park.

The Merseyside club have already been linked with a move for Palace’s left-sided flyer and could now have the perfect chance to sign him through a swap deal, but talks are yet to take place between the top-flight clubs.
