Newcastle United midfielder Henri Saivet has jetted out to Turkey to seal a last-gasp loan move to Sivasspor, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claimed in their live transfer blog on Wednesday [07:22am] that Saivet, 27, has arrived at the Turkish Super Lig club ahead of a temporary deal that will have the option to be made permanent in the future.

It is understood that Saivet may not be the only player to exit St James’ Park on deadline, as two more may be expected to follow him out of the door as Rafa Benitez clears out his squad with just hours to go before the transfer window slams shut at 11pm.

Saivet has been a fringe player at Newcastle this season and has made just four appearances in all competitions.

His one outing in the Premier League was certainly one to remember though as the Senegal international found the net in a 3-2 win over West Ham.

Good move for Newcastle?

Saivet was barely playing for the Magpies, so getting rid of anyone who is not featuring is always a good move. The Senegalese midfielder has not played terrible in his handful of appearances this term, but the fact remains that he has only made a handful of appearances. Benitez has to get rid of players before he can bring more in so getting a player like Saivet off the wage bill is a good move. The Toon will no doubt hope that Sivasspor activate the option to buy clause to sign him up for good in the summer.

Likely to happen?

Barring any late hitches, it seems that this move will go through before the end of the day. Saivet probably just has to finalise his paperwork and undergo a medical before sealing his move to the Turkish Super Lig. It seems that the midfielder either got a very early flight this morning or jetted out last night to complete this exit from St James’ Park before the 9pm deadline in Turkey.
