Rangers have emphatically decided to reject yet another bid for star striker Alfredo Morelos, according to Sky Sports Scotland.

The broadcaster claimed on its official Twitter account on Wednesday that Guangzhou Evergrande had launched a bid worth £8million for Morelos, 21, but the Light Blues are remaining reluctant to sell despite receiving a fresh bid.

Graeme Murty confirmed on Tuesday that the Scottish Premiership side had turned down an offer for the Colombian centre-forward and that they will not be swayed by the amount of money that has been put on the table.

Morelos was signed by Pedro Caixinha from HJK Helsinki in the summer for £1million, and already appears to be worth eight times that after scoring 13 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions this season.

Good move for Rangers?

This is a very hard deal to judge. Rangers have got themselves the best striker that they have had in a very long time so they need to think carefully before selling. The Gers know that these ultra-rich Chinese clubs can spend stupid amounts of money so they still might increase their bid to a whopping £10million. That is the point where Rangers cannot refuse anymore offers. But they better hope it all moves quickly because their deadline may be earlier than others due to their game against Fraserburgh that could disrupt late business.

Likely to happen?

Dave King and Murty appear very reluctant to sell off one of their most prized assets. No one can blame them but if the offers is bumped up to eight-figures then it’s hard to see how they can say no. There have been a lot of bids for the Colombian now, and eventually they will stop going in.
