Liverpool full-back Jon Flanagan is edging towards a last minute loan move to Championship club Bolton, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claimed in its live transfer blog on deadline day [10:13pm] that the 25-year-old is heading out of Anfield on a temporary basis to sign for the North-West club.

Flanagan is well down the pecking order at Liverpool and has only been picked by Jurgen Klopp to make one appearance across all competitions this season.

He has recently been sentenced to 40 hours of unpaid work for assaulting his girlfriend but the Reds decided against sacking the one-time England international.

Good move for Liverpool?

Flanagan has no future at Anfield so it is definitely a good idea to get rid of him while they can. Bolton are struggling in the Championship so could do with someone of his experience, but his issues away from the pitch appear to have tarnished what was once a very promising career. The full-back, who can play either side of the back four, does not seem as though he’ll ever play for Liverpool again and could make a permanent exit in the summer.

Likely to happen?

It’s late, but it’s achievable. Bolton is not far away from Liverpool geographically so any late dash to the Macron could be easily achieved in time. As long as no fax machines break down and a medical is passed with flying colours, then it seems that Flanagan will leave Anfield on loan for the second time in his career.
