Leeds United have wrapped up their second deadline day signing of Jordan Stevens from Forest Green Rovers, according to Football Insider.

The football news outlet claims that the Whites have beaten off competition from the Premier League to sign Stevens, 17, from the League Two relegation battlers for an undisclosed fee.

It is understood that Leeds see the teenage midfielder as one for the future and he will join a host of new faces in Carlos Corberan’s Under-23s squad.

Stevens has made 15 appearances across all competitions this season for Forest Green and scored one goal.

He leaves The New Lawn Stadium with Rovers 23rd in England’s fourth-tier.

Good move for Leeds?

Stevens is a pretty unknown quantity but to be just 17-years-old and playing regularly in the English Football League is a promising sign. Also, the interest from the Premier League stands this move in good stead as the teenager is clearly rated by teams who have much more financial pull than the Whites. Leeds’ transfer policy of signing a spate of youngsters is certainly controversial among fans, but this is one deal that is actually exciting.

Likely to happen?

It seems that all that is left for this deal to go through is the official confirmation from both clubs involved. Leeds have signed heaps of young players and sometimes have failed to mention them on their official channels, but with him being a first-team player at Forest Green, it’s likely they will announce the deal before the 11pm deadline.
