Dundee centre-back Jack Hendry is due to arrive at Celtic shortly to wrap up his move to Parkhead, according to Scottish Daily Mail chief football writer Stephen McGowan.

The reliable journalist claimed on his personal Twitter account on deadline day that Hendry, 22, is close to signing for the Hoops in the eleventh hour of the January transfer window for a £1million fee.

It has been widely reported throughout January that there has been a lot of clubs interested in Hendry.

The stylish centre-back, who is known for his passing play out of defence, has made 30 appearances in all competitions for Dundee this season, scoring two goals in the process.

Good move for Celtic?

Celtic really needed to strengthen their defensive line this month and Brendan Rodgers looks as though he has pulled off a last minute deal to add further depth. Marvin Compper’s arrival from RB Leipzig has started to look a bit of a joke. He is not available in the Europa League and his patchy injury record has already seen him sidelined. Hendry’s arrival is very welcome.

Likely to happen?

There is not a lot of time left for the Bhoys to get this deal wrapped up but they must be confident if he has just arrived. There is around an hour to go before the deadline so hopefully all the fax machines are working and there are no late hitches.
