This will be the second time that Wilson has left Rangers in his career, with the 26-year-old leaving his boyhood club for Liverpool in 2010.
The Rangers academy graduate failed to make an impact at Anfield before loan spells with Blackpool, Bristol City, and Hearts led him to a permanent move to Tynecastle in 2013.
From there he returned to Ibrox in 2015, and has developed into a key first-team player under Graeme Murty after being frozen out by Pedro Caixinha, and he has now made over 100 appearances for the club.
Murty confirmed that the club were in talks with Wilson over a new deal, but it looks as though the 26-year-old has been lured to the US with the promise of a lucrative contract with the Rapids.
This is Futbol have rounded up some of the best tweets:
Danny Wilson seems to be the sort of player for whom football is just a job, not a calling. Going to the MLS is as good as giving up on your career, especially at 26. He'll be paid well of course and if that's all that matters to him I wish him good luck.

Wilson choosing to go to Colorado Rapids than rather stay at Rangers absolutely stupid choice looked like he was turning into a first choice centre back and getting back to the form he had before he joined liverpool

I was sad hearing about Wilson leaving, but after Bates performance on Wednesday and if Alves stays I don’t think it will affect us at all, shame to see him go but obviously doesn’t care about this club as much as we’d thought

If we got any money at all for Wilson itd be fantastic as he’s pish. But if it’s anywhere near the sum heing thrown around I’ll pish my knickers

Ah Yeh, Wilson can get a one way ticket to USA ???????? he's came back once, but his bridges are burned as far as Im concerned

I feel it is a strange move at this time for Danny Wilson should he go to the MLS. With Wilson, his career hit the skids with the bad Liverpool move – and then just as he starts to emerge as the player everyone thought he was he goes to the MLS.

Rangers fans upset that Danny Wilson is off forget he’s only played a handful of good games for us. Constantly suspect all of last season. Shows his ambition joining the MLS aged 26. Good riddance ????????

Danny Wilson leaving is a mad one. Gets a half decent run of form going and leaves for MLS. A league of total obscurity, career basically done.
