Steven Naismith is willing to play for free in order to secure a Rangers return, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claim that the striker is ready to make a huge gesture in order to join the Gers until the end of the season.

The Scottish Sun report that Naismith is opening to making this sacrifice despite having several clubs, including Kilmarnock, interested in his services.

The same report believes Norwich City would sanction a move to get his wages off their books, and they will not look to recoup the £8.5million they paid for him in 2016.

Naismith made 132 appearances for the Light Blues, scoring 33 goals during his time at the club between 2007 and 2012.

Good move for Rangers?

If Naismith is really willing to sacrifice his wages to play for the club once again, it’s too good an opportunity to turn down.

The striker would be an improvement to Rangers squad given his ability to play up front and on the wing, along with his proven goal record.

Naismith may be a divisive figure among fans given his exit during their time of financial turmoil, however this gesture would help smooth relations in order to see him welcomed back to the club.

Likely to happen?

The striker has hardly featured for Norwich City and the Canaries seem keen to get him out the club.

Naismith has also publicly stated that he would love a Rangers return, with his wages now not an issue, the chances of this deal happening have increased dramatically.

Especially when you consider that he’s open to playing for free despite other clubs being interested in him.
