West Ham United are increasingly worried that striker Andy Carroll wants a January exit and will try to force through a move to Chelsea, according to the Telegraph

The newspaper report that many involved at the Hammers believe Carroll may attempt to push through a move to the Blues, as the 29-year-old wants to play more regularly.

The Telegraph claim that Carroll has become a surprise target for giants Chelsea after concerns arose over the fitness of Alvaro Morata, who is in need of a rest.

It is said that Antonio Conte may offer Michy Batshuayi, who has been pursued by the Hammers in the past, in a swap deal for Carroll.

The report claims that West Ham are currently adamant they will not let Carroll go this month, especially not on loan.

Good move for West Ham?

Unless Chelsea come up with a big offer for a permanent deal, no.

There would be no point in the Hammers loaning out Carroll this month, although Michy Batshuayi’s arrival could potentially sweeten the deal.

The Belgian has failed to make an impact at the Blues, but has shown glimpses of quality and could revitalise the Hammers’ attack.

Carroll has been a good servant of the club despite his injury record, and he will be key to their hopes of survival in the coming months.

Likely to happen?

Unfortunately, it may pan out that the Hammers are forced into a move if Carroll does angle for an exit.

However, there is no real evidence that he will do so at the moment, and it is highly doubtful that Carroll would see any more game time at Chelsea.

If it does happen, then the best the Hammers could do out would be to get Batshuayi coming the other way.
