West Ham striker Diafra Sakho will be confirmed as a Rennes player tomorrow (Monday), according to a Hammers insider.

The Ex-WHU Employee Twitter account, which is a reliable source of Hammers news, reported on Sunday evening that the forward’s move to the French club has been finalised.

An official announcement is scheduled for in the next 24 hours after reports that the two clubs were in talks about a deal said to be worth around £8million.

Sakho has scored four goals in 17 matches this season but has been on the fringes of the West Ham side and all 14 of his league appearances have come as a substitute.

Good move for West Ham?

It is in the best interests of all parties that Sakho leaves the London Stadium. He has been surplus to requirements for some time despite a creditable record of 24 goals for the club in 71 matches. Given the player’s wretched injury record – he missed most of last season with a back injury after his summer 2016 transfer to West Brom collapsed following a failed medical – it is slightly perplexing why Rennes are prepared to put so much faith in a striker who spends more time on the sidelines than actually playing. £8million for Sakho is decent business from West Ham.

Likely to happen?

Ex-WHU Employee is an extremely reliable source of Hammers news, with a track record including the exclusive that David Moyes would get the manager’s job in early November. If he says the deal is done tomorrow, it will get announced.
