Diafra Sakho is pushing for a move to Newcastle United, Swansea City or West Bromwich Albion in order to end his time at West Ham, according to the Daily Mail’s Live Transfer Blog (Tuesday 13:10).

The newspaper claim that a deal between the Hammers and Crystal Palace has hit an impasse and due to this, Sakho was trying to secure a move to another interested club.

The Daily Mail report that David Moyes has little desire to let any of his players leave, unless a replacement is lined up.

Newcastle United have been linked with a move for the wantaway West Ham striker throughout the January transfer window.

Bleacher Report correspondent Dean Jones posted on his personal Twitter account last Thursday, that the Magpies were set to hijack Sakho’s move to Crystal Palace.

The centre-forward, who can play on either flank as well, looked likely to be heading to Palace, after Sky Sports reported that a few between £10-£12million had been agreed for his services.

The Sun also previously revealed that Rafa Benitez had inquired about taking Sakho on loan at the start of January, but his suggestion was rejected by the Hammers.

The 28-year-old has failed to start a Premier League game for West Ham this season, but he has still managed to score four goals in his 17 appearances across all competitions.

Good move for Newcastle?

Yes. The Magpies are in desperate need of a new attacking threat to lead the line, as Aleksandar Mitrovic, Dwight Gayle and Joselu haven’t delivered this season.

Sakho looks like the ideal option, given his desire to not only join the club, but by his ability to grab four league goals when on the fringes of West Ham’s squad.

In fact, Joselu has scored the same amount of goals as Sakho this season, while being a regular for Newcastle United.

Likely to happen?

Like every other Newcastle United deal, the price will be a stumbling block.

While Crystal Palace managed to agree a reasonable fee between £10-£12million for the forward; that still may be too much for the Magpies to shell out.

Sakho seems desperate to secure a move as quickly as possible and with Newcastle United being slow to act in the January transfer window; he may have better luck pursing another team.
