West Ham have reopened discussions with Middlesbrough over a January deal for winger Adama Traore, according to a club insider.

ExWHUemployee, who is an established source for exclusive insider information on the Hammers, revealed on Twitter on Friday that the club had made contact with Middlesbrough for the winger.

The report comes in the wake of the news that Michail Antonio looks set for a spell on the sidelines with a groin injury.

It was however claimed that a deal is far from being done at this point in time.

As reported by the Daily Star in the summer, Traore was a target for West Ham during the last transfer window, and looked on the verge of a move to the London Stadium.

Good move for West Ham?

This would be a great move for the Hammers and a real statement of intent from David Moyes.

Traore showed during his time in the Premier League with Middlesbrough last year that he belongs in the top-flight, and it was a surprise that no one snapped him up in the summer.

The Spanish speed machine was Boro’s best player all season, consistently managing to pose problems to high-quality defences with his wide play.

His pace would be a great outlet for West Ham as they try to catch teams on the break in the second half of the season and secure those all important wins which will catapult them up the table.

Likely to happen?

As reported by ExWHUemployee, this deal is far from being done.

The Hammers only look to be in initial discussions with Boro, who will be loathe to lose Traore at this point in their season.

However, with Tony Pulis having just taken the reins at the club, this may be a time of change for Middlesbrough and could mean that Traore does finally seal his move back to the Premier League.
