West Ham have agreed a deal with Swansea for attacker Andre Ayew totalling between £18million and £20million, according to the BBC.

The broadcaster claims in their live transfer blog (Wednesday, 15:23) that the two clubs have now reached an agreement for Ayew to return to the Liberty Stadium.

The BBC report that a deal has not been completely finalised, but negotiations are moving forward quickly.

Ayew joined West Ham from the Swans just a year-and-a-half ago, for a fee of around £21million, and his return to Wales will see the Hammers recuperate much of that fee.

The 28-year-old Ghana international has score 12 goals in 50 appearances for West Ham, which came after a spell at Swansea where he netted 12 times in 35 games.

Good move for West Ham?

This seems a strange one for West Ham, who said they did not want to lose any of their first-team players.

Ayew has not been on the best form this season, but the forward still offers goal threat when he plays.

Also, selling to a relegation rival is dangerous, especially a club which Ayew knows well where he will be able to hit the ground running.

West Ham obviously thought the offer was too good to turn down, and they will no doubt be looking for a last-minute replacement.
