Aston Villa are interested in taking Swansea City striker Oliver McBurnie on loan, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper claim in their live transfer blog (Friday, 08:48) that the Villans are eyeing up a last-minute swoop for the 21-year-old forward.

The Record report that Steve Bruce is looking to add some more firepower to his attack as fourth-placed Championship side Villa look to gain promotion back to the Premier League.

It is said that Scotland Under-21 international McBurnie may yet remain in South Wales after making 11 appearances for the Swans so far this season.

Good move for Aston Villa?

This is a very interesting move for Villa.

McBurnie is very highly-rated at Swansea, where he has scored 10 goals in seven games for their Under-23 side this season.

He has begun to make tracks into the first-team picture at the Liberty Stadium, including two starts recently in the Premier League.

However, he would have more first-team opportunities in the Midlands with Villa, who are in need of reinforcements up front.

Likely to happen?

It is hard to say.

Swansea may want to keep McBurnie for the relegation dogfight ahead, but they may also be keen to see their young talent get some more first-team minutes.

Villa represent a good chance for the 21-year-old to play a part in a meaningful few months, with Villa chasing promotion, and Swansea may see that as a good move.
