A double from Harry Kane and a rare goal from Jan Vertonghen – his first since October 2013 – saw Spurs over the line against a stubborns Dons side, and secured their passage into the fourth round.

This weekend may be an opportunity to close that gap as the Reds welcome Manchester City to Anfield, with the leaders still unbeaten this season in the Premier League.

Pochettino rang in the changes for the FA Cup clash, handing starts to several fringe players, and is expected to revert to a full-strength team for Saturday’s match.
