The agent of Lazar Markovic is jetting into the UK to tie up the loose end of his expected transfer to Swansea City, according to Football Insider.

The football news site claim that the Welsh side are in advanced talks with Liverpool to seal the permanent signing of the attacking midfielder for £15million.

Football Insider report that Liverpool are willing to sell Markovic before the transfer window cut-off tomorrow night (Wednesday) and that negotiations with Swansea are “progressing well”.

It is said that Markovic’s agent is flying into the UK to try and tie up the loose ends of the deal.

Liverpool signed Markovic from Benfica for £20million in the summer of 2014 but he has struggled to make an impact and has had spells away from Anfield out on loan at Fenerbahce, Sporting Lisbon and Hull City in the last few seasons.

Good move for Liverpool?

Yes. The chances of recouping their £20million fee for Markovic are remote, as he is way down the pecking order at Liverpool after failing to secure a move last summer, but it would represent a saving-of-face of sorts if their loss is limited to £5million and the wages spent on a player who is not suited to Klopp’s intense pressing game. The 23-year-old needs to be at a team where he can get regular football and it is best for all parties that his miserable time on Merseyside is brought to an end.

Likely to happen?

Football Insider are a reliable source of transfer news and, if they state that talks are advanced, expect an announcement in the next 36 hours that Markovic is a Swansea player.
