Amanda Staveley and her PCP Capital Partners will not a submit a new offer for Newcastle United until the Premier League confirm the new domestic TV deal, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claim that Staveley’s next offer will be dependent on how much cash broadcasters will pay for the domestic rights of 2019-2022 Premier League season.

The Daily Mail report that with analysts believing Amazon will enter the race for the rights; then a new deal could see clubs earn more than the current £5.1billion they get from TV revenue.

The new TV deal is expected to increase the value of the Magpies, and this is why Staveley was previously keen to get deal done before 2018.

It is thought that broadcasters will table their first bids for the domestic rights of the 2019-2022 season on February 8; with a decision expected before end of next month.

Staveley’s latest bid was in the region of £250million which is well below Ashley’s valuation of the club; but that the business woman was keen to submit an increased offer following the announcement of a new TV deal.

One analyst told the Daily Mail, that Ashley was also keen to wait until after a new deal had been announced.

“If Ashley sits and waits for the new TV deal, he knows the value of the club will probably go up,” said an unnamed analyst.

“Staveley will also have thought that she would get it cheaper by buying it now, before the new rights are known.

“If you are looking at the value of a club, it is dependent on revenue, the core revenue of clubs is TV rights money.”

OPINION

Newcastle United supporters will have to wait a little bit longer to see if Staveley really will try again in her quest to own the club. After Ashley publicly said a takeover deal with her was dead; at least this news is somewhat positive. It also seems very believable. The new TV deal could sensationally see Premier League clubs earn a ridiculously amount of money, and that’s going to see them worth more. If the deal truly turns out to be as amazing as expected; then Ashley might find the club with some new suitors. This means Staveley could face tough competition, and have to give in to Ashley’s demand for the club, if she wants any chance of owning it.
