Cameron has previously spent time on loan spell at Workington, York City and Newport County, with Newcastle United keen for him to experience senior football.
The 6ft 3in defensive colossus, who can play centre-back or left-back, is yet to make a senior appearances for the Magpies, but did feature for the U-23s in the EFL Trophy this season.
Queen of the South are fighting for promotion to the Scottish Premiership and are positioned in mid table, three points off the play-off places.
OPINION
The 21-year-old has shown glimpses of his potential when playing in the EFL Trophy this season, and a loan move is the right decision. Cameron needs to secure first-team football in order to develop as a player. There was no sign that he was close to a break through at the Magpies, especially with Newcastle United in a relegation battle. Rafa Benitez knows that the Magpies need experience and calm heads to survive in the Premier League, with Cameron just not ready to feature at that level yet. Cameron has a real opportunity to taste success with Queen of the South, as he could aid them in their bid to win promotion. It will be a good experience, that could see him gain a winning mentality.
