Joe Bryan has publicly confirmed that he remains to committed to Bristol City despite reported interest from Everton, Newcastle United and Brighton.

The Daily Mirror previously reported in January that the three Premier League teams were battling to sign the left-back for £7million.

With the Daily Mail’s transfer blog (Saturday, 4.45pm) reporting that Bristol City were bracing themselves as they expected to receive several bids from the Toffees.

However Bryan, following his side’s 2-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, commented on reports suggesting teams were interested in signing him.

“If you’re playing well, you’re going to get interest,” said Bryan, as quoted by the Bristol Post.

“I’m always committed to the club, it’s my hometown club and I’m really looking forward to trying to achieve promotion.”

Bryan has been impressive for Bristol City this season, scoring four goals while creating two in his 32 appearances this season.

The 24-year-old also notably scored a spectacular goal against Manchester United in the League Cup to help his side eliminate the Premier League giants from the competition.

OPINION

While a lot of players like to dismiss transfer speculation before leaving their current club, this doesn’t seem to be the case with Bryan. The left-back has reiterated his commitment to Bristol City on his first opportunity to do so as well as revealing that he looks forward to getting promoted. As Bryan clearly has personal connections to the club, it being his local team, it make sense that he will wait to see if Bristol City get into the Premier League before opting to leaving them for a team already in the top-flight. Bryan’s team are comfortably sat fourth in the Championship and should have a good chance in the play-offs if they feature in them. However, if they fail to win promotion, he may be more open to a move to club like Everton in the summer.
