Sadio Mane has dismissed claims that he is unhappy at Liverpool, but has shared that he has been frustrated this season.

The winger’s body language has caused people to speculate about his happiness at the Reds, but Mane has insisted he’s just working hard to improve.

” I need to be consistent and push myself, that’s why I sometimes get frustrated when things don’t work out for me,” admitted Mane, as quoted by The Sun.

“I need to work harder than I have previously done.

“I am fine, you can ask my team-mates, but I demand a lot from myself so, when I am not scoring or performing at a certain level, I give myself pressure.”

The 25-year-old has made 21 appearances this season, scoring eight goals and registering six assists.

Mane’s attitude drew attention when he had a visible argument with Jurgen Klopp in November during the 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

The winger also noticeably didn’t celebrate the goal he scored against Burnley on New Year’s Day, which helped the Reds earn a 2-1 victory.

The Senegal international has been at Liverpool since joining for £34million from Southampton in 2016, and the forward is contracted to the club until 2021.

OPINION

The forward has every right to be frustrated with himself and his performances this season. After scoring in Liverpool’s first three league games, Mane has only managed to grab two goals in the league since. Meanwhile Mohamed Salah has been scoring for fun, which has seen fans and pundits alike rate the star above Mane. The 25-year-old clearly wants to the best at the club, any striker would, and he has simply showcased his frustration in a visible way. While it’s not the most professional thing to see, it’s nice to see a player so passionate about their own performance. Mane’s goal against Burnley was a spectacular effort, but the forward always wants more and that’s only going to benefit his club.
