Liverpool are willing to sell wantaway striker Daniel Sturridge this month but have slapped a £30million price tag on the 28-year-old, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The newspaper report that Sturridge is desperate to force his way into the England squad for the upcoming World Cup and has told the club that he wants a January exit.

The Echo claim that Sturridge is not available for loan this month, with the Reds seeking a permanent deal worth £30million. That stance may change towards the end of the window if there is a hefty loan fee on the table.

It is said that Jurgen Klopp wants to retain Sturridge until the summer but is willing to let him go if the club receive a suitable offer.

Southampton and West Ham have been linked with the striker this month.

Good move for Liverpool?

If they can secure £30million for Sturridge, then this would be a shrewd move from the Reds.

The former England man is out of favour at Anfield, and that does not look likely to change in the coming months.

A loan was looking the most likely, but a permanent exit for such an amount would be a coup for Liverpool.

Sturridge has failed to nail down a regular starting place for several seasons now, and to get £30million would be a no-brainer.

Likely to happen?

All that being said, it is highly unlikely that anyone will come in with a bid close to £30million.

The Reds may field offers around £20million, even £25million, but any higher than that is doubtful.

A loan is still the most feasible option, but it looks as though any club that wants such an arrangement would have to pay a hefty loan fee.
