Forward Harry Wilson is set to sign a new Liverpool deal before immediately going on loan to Hull City – and fans of the Merseysiders took to Twitter to express their delight.

Football Insider claim that the highly rated young attacker has secured the terms of the deadline day double deal following intense negotiations.

It is said that Liverpool were only willing to authorise the exit of Wilson, 20, to one of the many Championship clubs chasing his signature once he had formalised the terms of new contract.

Football Insider report he has agreed a new deal to replace the one signed in the summer of 2016 and has now been given the green light to head to Championship outfit Hull.

There has been no official confirmation from Liverpool about the twin-pronged deal, or from Hull that Wilson has joined.

But Liverpool Echo journalist James Pearce subsequently reported on his personal Twitter account that Wilson is set to link up with Nigel Adkins’ side as they aim to preserve their second-tier status.

Wilson made his Liverpool senior debut against Plymouth in the FA Cup last year but he has failed to make a matchday squad this season despite accumulating eight international caps for Wales.

Despite being way down the pecking order at Anfield, the youngster has shown for the Under-23s that he is an attacker of immense potential and his record of 32 goals from 59 matches for the Under-23s, including 10 from 11 appearances this season, has got Liverpool fans excited.

A section of those supporters are pleased that Wilson will be able to develop his game at a club where he can expect to play regularly, with one hailing it as a “brilliant move” and others pleased they he has simultaneously extended his Liverpool deal.
