Liverpool winger Ryan Kent has joined Bristol City on loan for the rest of the season – and fans of the two clubs have given the deal the thumbs-up on Twitter.
City announced on their official website on Friday morning that the 21-year-old attacker will immediately link up with Lee Johnson’s squad, who are flying high in the Championship and are in the semi-finals of the League Cup.
Kent spend the opening half of the campaign on loan at Bundesliga outfit Freiburg but struggled for game time and Liverpool activated their recall clause to terminate the deal at the end of December.
It has been widely reported that a number of Championship clubs having been chasing the wide man’s signature, with the likes of Leeds and Sheffield United also strongly linked with him.
But City, who are fourth in the division, have won the race to make Kent their second signing of the January window after the permanent capture of midfielder Liam Walsh from Everton.
Supporters have taken to Twitter to hail it as a good move for both clubs, with some City fans wondering if Kent will be available for the second leg of their League Cup semi-final against Manchester City the week after next.
