Liverpool expected XI v Manchester City
Simon Mignolet (Goalkeeper) – Mignolet has been Klopp’s number one in the Premier League this season, but has been rotated with Loris Karius recently. Karius played against Everton in the FA Cup, but Mignolet is expected to be reinstated against City. Mignolet for Karius.
Joe Gomez (Right-back) – Gomez has been a consistent performer for Liverpool this season at wing-back, despite many believing he is most comfortable in the centre. Expected to retain his place v City.
Joel Matip (Centre-back) – The big Cameroon international has been let down by some poor defensive partners during his Liverpool career, but the arrival of van Dijk changes things. Expected to retain his place on Sunday.
Virgil van Dijk (Centre-back) – Klopp had claimed that he was to be patient with van Dijk’s introduction, but he was thrown in against Everton and repaid Klopp’s faith with a late goal. The towering defender rose above several players to head home against their Merseyside rivals, and immediately endear himself to the Liverpool faithful. Expected to retain his place v City.
Andy Robertson (Left-back) – Robertson has got an extended run in the first-team after Alberto Moreno got injured, and despite the Spaniard now being back in training, Robertson is expected to retain his place on Sunday.
