Liverpool have been installed massive favourites to sign Southampton attacker Dusan Tadic, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.

Sky Bet priced the Merseyside giants at 4/1 on Sunday evening to land the Serbian winger, 29, before the transfer window shuts at the start of February.

Liverpool are a long way ahead in the betting of Tottenham (12/1), Arsenal and Manchester United (both 25/1).

Liverpool have signed a string of players from Southampton in recent years, with £75million club record signing Virgil Van Dijk becoming the latest to make the move after the likes of Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert.

Tadic has scored 20 goals and supplied 33 assists from 142 Southampton appearances since joining from FC Twente in the summer of 2014.

OPINION

Tadic is a decent Premier League player but he is hardly the show-stopping signing Liverpool need following the £142million exit of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona. Jurgen Klopp’s team need an A-list playmaker who creates and scores goals, can dictate the tempo of top-level matches and consistently delivers the goods. Tadic is not that man. There has been stampede of mighty fine players swapping St Mary’s Stadium for Anfield in recent years, but Tadic is certainly not in the same class as Mane, Van Dijk and Lallana.
