Nottingham Forest are set to complete a deadline day swoop to take Watford midfielder Ben Watson on loan, according to a reliable journalist.

John Percy, the Midlands football reporter for the Daily Telegraph, reported on Twitter on Wednesday evening that Forest look set to sign the 32-year-old Premier League veteran.

Percy claims that Watson has pulled out of the Hornets’ squad to face Stoke in the league tonight ahead of his move to the City Ground.

Watson has made just 11 appearances for Watford this season, having fallen down the pecking order at Vicarage Road.

In his career he has made 145 Premier League appearances over spells at Wigan, Crystal Palace and Watford.

Good move for Nottingham Forest?

Absolutely.

Watson is a highly-experienced player having plied his trade at the top of English football for so long, and he will bring something extra to the Forest squad.

Having fallen out of favour at Watford this season, it makes sense for Watson to drop down to the Championship in search of minutes, and Forest is the perfect place for him to do that.

Likely to happen?

With Watson pulling out of the Watford squad for tonight’s match, it looks like a move is on the cards.

It may be a race against time to complete it, but the move should be finalised before the deadline.
