Robinson extends Everton loan

|

Antonee Robinson’s loan from Everton to Bolton Wanderers has been extended until the end of the season, it has been announced.

The Championship club announced on their official website and Twitter account on Friday afternoon that the versatile left-sided player will remain with them for the entirety of the 2017-18 campaign.

Robinson has been a mainstay of the 20th placed second-tier side in the opening half of the campaign, starting 17 of his 20 appearances across all competitions.

The 20-year-old’s duties have been fairly even split between left midfield and left-back for the Trotters, and he has weighed in with three assists.

Bolton manager Phil Parkinson said: “We’re very pleased to have extended Antonee’s loan as we look to keep our squad as strong as possible.

“We are pleased with the progress he has made during his time with us and look forward to working with him over the rest of the season.”

OPINION

It is a smart move by Bolton to tie  Robinson down for the remainder of the campaign, as he has showed that he can be a valuable asset in their bid to avoid relegation back to League One. The youngster will more likely settle down as a left-back in the future, but he has demonstrated he can bomb up the flank and create goals and be a threat in the opposition third. He should be looking to triple his assists tally of three by the end of the season, especially if he gets more run-outs in a more attacking role.
