Bolton have slapped a £4million price tag on Jake Turner as Everton and Manchester United keep tabs on the player, according to The Sun.

The newspaper claim that the Championship club, whose financial problems are well documented, want £4million for the goalkeeper despite him not featuring in their side.

The Sun report that Bolton’s valuation of Turner has put Everton and Manchester United off battling for his services.

The 18-year-old may not have ever featured for Bolton, but the goalkeeper is highly-rated and has featured for the England Under-19s.

Good move for Everton?

Building for the future is important but spending £4million on a young talent that is yet to play senior football, is bold to say the least.

Turner is an asset to Bolton and with them struggling for cash, it makes sense that they’re going to demand above market value.

With this in mind, the Toffees should scout for other young goalkeepers if they’re intent of finding a future prospect.

Likely to happen?

The report states the price-tag has put Everton off, and that’s not hard to believe.

Unless Bolton lower their demands, then this deal already looks dead in the water.

Everton will re-focus and find cheaper alternatives because as it stands they’re investing heavily in their first-team and won’t want to splash that sort of cash on promising prospects.
