Carlo Volpi, the agent of Juventus’ Stefano Sturaro, has claimed that Everton are interested in signing his client, according to Il Bianconero.

The website conducted an interview with Volpi and when revealing who wanted to sign his client, the agent revealed Everton were interested.

“The market is in Italy 80% of the clubs, with some more insistent (on signing Sturaro), abroad Valencia and Everton mainly,” said Volpi.

Il Bianconero report that the agent told them, that even though Sturaro has hardly featured this season; Juventus weren’t keen to let him go.

However, Volpi did say that even though Juventus aren’t willing at the moment, a transfer may still happen as anything can happen in the transfer market.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder has won seven trophies since joining the Italian giants in 2014, but has only made nine appearances across all competitions this season.

Good move for Everton?

Yes. Sturaro would be a steely presence in the Toffees’ midfield, give his ability to win aerial duels and hold onto the ball when under pressure.

The 24-year-old would add a winning mentality to Sam Allardyce’s side as they aim to finish as high as possible after a rough start to the season.

Sturaro as well as being a defensive midfielder, the 24-year-old can feature as a right-back as well, which would give the Toffees additional cover.

Likely to happen?

With the agent revealing that Juventus aren’t keen to let the midfielder go, then this one looks dead in the water.

Volpi might be hopeful that anything can happen in the transfer market, but Everton are in no rush to splash the cash on a midfielder who they face an uphill battle to sign.
