Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is holding up Newcastle United’s bid to take Brazilian left-back Kenedy on loan, according to the Chronicle.
The Newcastle-based newspaper report that the deal remains at the paperwork stage as Conte does not want Kenedy to leave before he has signed a replacement.
The Chronicle claim that Newcastle have been told they will have to wait until next week to find out whether their bid to take the 21-year-old flyer on loan has been successful.
It is said that Kenedy is keen to push through the move, and Newcastle had thought the deal would be sealed this week, only to learn that Conte is yet to give the green light.
Good move for Newcastle United?
This would be a very good move for Newcastle, and one that has been in the offing for a while now.
Kenedy was close to sealing a loan to St. James’ Park in the summer, but that fell through for similar reasons to this hold up.
Chelsea had failed to bring in enough cover to let him go, and he has rotted on the bench once again in the last six months.
Kenedy has shown glimpses of his talent when he has played for Chelsea, and will offer great versatility down the left for the Magpies in their relegation fight.

Likely to happen?
As long as Chelsea sign a replacement then this one looks all but done.
However, that is not as easy as it sounds, with the Blues having chased up several targets so far with no success.
It will be a truly bitter blow if Benitez misses out on Kenedy once again due to Chelsea’s inability to sign a replacement, and more importantly, it would damage their chances of staying up this season.
