Arsenal in talks for Aubameyang

|

Arsenal have opened talks with Borussia Dortmund over a move for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper report that the Gunners’ new head of recruitment Sven Mislintat, who brought Aubameyang to Dortmund, is the driving force behind the move.

The Telegraph claim that Arsenal are yet to decide on an offer for the Gabon international speed machine, or whether to offer striker Olivier Giroud, who was wanted by the German giants last summer, as part of the deal.

It is said that the Gunners are also hoping to secure a £40million deal for Bordeaux winger Malcom.

Aubameyang has an incredible goalscoring record at Dortmund, with 141 goals in just 212 games for the Bundesliga side.

Good move for Arsenal?

This would be a stunning move for Arsenal, who would secure the services of a player that has long been linked with a move to the Premier League.

With Alexis Sanchez looking on the way out, a move for super quick Aubameyang would certainly ease nerves at the club if that happens.

However, the deal would only seem to make sense if they do manage to secure Malcom, because Aubameyang would not act as a replacement for the Chilean, with the two playing completely different positions.

It would also raise questions about the future of Alexandre Lacazette, unless Arsene Wenger holds plans to play two strikers, which would seem unlikely.

Likely to happen?

This one looks a long way from completion.

Talks have reportedly only just begun, and Dortmund will want a sizeable fee for Aubameyang.

The Gunners are also embroiled in negotiations for Malcom, which is a deal that looks to be dragging on.
