Arsenal are on red alert after it was revealed that key target Jonny Evans can leave West Bromwich Albion for just £3million if the Baggies are relegated, according to the Daily Star.

The newspaper claim that Evans will be able to leave the club for that massively cut-price fee if they drop down to the Championship, with Arsenal and Manchester City showing interest.

The Star report that the Baggies are however ready to sell Evans this month if a bid for around £23million comes in for the 30-year-old.

It is said that Evans prefers the option of returning to Manchester with City, despite playing for their rivals United for many years.

Good move for Arsenal?

Arsenal’s interest in Evans is no surprise, with the Gunners in dire need of a reliable centre-back with Premier League experience.

Evans has shone since his move away from Manchester United, where people maybe failed to appreciate his value to that team.

Being at the Baggies has allowed the Northern Ireland international to really come into his own, and it is no surprise that the big-hitters are back in for him.

Likely to happen?

The issue here is how the Gunners will look to convert their interest.

Will they move this month knowing that West Brom will lose a vast amount of money if they keep Evans and get relegated?

Or will they wait and hope that the Baggies are indeed shunted out of the Premier League and hope to secure his services for just £3million then?
