Jurgen Klopp will have access to all of the £142million fee received from the sale of Philippe Coutinho for transfers according to The Telegraph.

The newspaper claim that every penny from Coutinho’s sale will be available for transfers, whenever Klopp needs it, whether that be in the January or summer window.

The Telegraph report that Klopp may move for achievable long-term targets as well as potentially paying more for midfield kingpin Naby Keita join the Reds in January.

Keita is currently set to move to Anfield in the summer with RB Leipzig keen to keep him until then as they aim to secure Champions League football for next season.

OPINION

Liverpool fans will certainly be hoping that funds are spent sooner rather than later to replace Coutinho, but Klopp is smart enough to not rush any decisions. There have been examples of clubs panic buying in order to replace key players, such as when Tottenham spent and mostly wasted the money received for Gareth Bale. Klopp will be keen to ensure every signing is made with the best intention of taking Liverpool to the next level. The German manager will be reluctant to spend extra money in order to sign Keita in January, as he knows, his side can cope without him until the summer.
