Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock are on the verge of signing Aston Villa midfielder Aaron Tshibola on loan, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claim that Steve Bruce has told the 23-year-old he may leave the club this month, with Killie boss Steve Clarke making a move to sign his former player.

The Sun report that it will be the third time that Tshibola has played under Clarke, with the Scot managing him at Reading before being assistant when Villa signed him for £5million in 2016.

It is said that Bruce wants the young central midfielder to go out on loan and get some game time after failing to live up to his hefty price tag so far at Villa Park.

Good move for Aston Villa?

Yes.

Tshibola was obviously highly-rated for the club to buy him for £5million, and looks to have become a victim of his price tag amid massively raised expectations.

The 23-year-old is quite clearly not in the first-team plans at Villa Park, and needs to be loaned out for experience.

Hopefully he can get some first-team minutes in Scotland, and can return to the Midlands a better player, ready to live up to that price tag.

Likely to happen?

As reported, this one looks close to completion.

The Steve Clarke connection means that this is a move that makes sense for both player and club, and should be announced soon.
