Even though he has only scored one Championship goal this season in 19 appearances, Scott Hogan claimed he is the best striker at Aston Villa.
In an interview with BBC West Midlands, the flop striker confidently made the claim despite admitting he hasn’t score enough since joining the club.
“I’ve come here to score goals and I haven’t,” Hogan confessed, as quoted by BBC Sport.
“It beat me up that I couldn’t score, but I’m still confident I’m the best striker at the club.”
The striker went on to say you have to believe that you’re the best and fellow strikers Jonathan Kodjia and Keinan Davis would also think the same about themselves.
However, Kodija has scored the same amount of league goals in 11 less appearances and Davis has scored one goal having made one more league appearance than Hogan, but he’s only a teenager.
Hogan has been at Aston Villa since January 2017 after they signed him for £12million from fellow Championship club Brentford.

In fairness Hogan has struggled to settle in at Aston Villa after moving from Brentford due to experiencing serious injuries. The striker is also right when he says you have to believe you’re the best at the club. However, to publicly declare it when you’ve struggled for goals is a stupid thing to do. The striker has just brought attention to himself and his lack of goals, as well as the comment potentially being something that upset his teammates.
