Andreas Weimann scored for Derby County in their 2-0 Championship win against Aston Villa on Saturday – and the Villa supporters took to Twitter to admit his goal was inevitable.
The Austria international spent five years at Villa Park from 2010 to 2015 during their Premier League days before joining Derby County in the summer of 2015 on a four-year deal.
The right-winger, 26, had a fine record for the Midlands giants and was remembered as a popular member of the side.
Weimann has had mixed success at Derby and spent the second half of last season on loan at Wolves.
Now back at County, he has been a regular in 2017-18 and scored for a second consecutive match on Saturday as he netted the opener at Pride Park before departing 57 minutes into the match.
Villa fans on social media recognised there was an inevitability to one of their former players producing the goods against their side in a defeat that put a dent in their promotion hopes.

I feel so stupid not putting Weimann down for first goalscorer vs. Villa. Of course it was gonna be him. Of COURSE. #AVFC
