Leeds keen on striker Prijovic

|

Leeds United are interested in signing forward Aleksandar Prijovic from Greek top-flight club PAOK, according to Goal Cyprus.

The news outlet claims that the Whites are one of several teams keen on landing the 27-year-old ahead of the January transfer window, with manager Thomas Christiansen looking to improve his attacking options.

It is understood that the Serbia international has an £8.8million release clause in his contract with PAOK and 15 per cent of that sum would go to his former club Legia Warsaw if he leaves them.

The report details that PAOK are still yet to receive any official offer for him despite interest.

Christiansen previously managed in the Greek Super League side and could be aware of Prijovic’s quality.

Good move for Leeds?

Leeds may be one striker away from really pushing for promotion this season and Prijovic could be a smart signing for them in January.

The centre-forward has scored 10 goals in 20 games across all competition so far this campaign, highlighting his quality in front of goal.

Christiansen does have the likes of Kemar Roofe, Caleb Ekuban and Pierre-Michel Lasogga as forward options to him, but another goalscorer could see them really challenge the automatic promotion spots in the Championship.

Likely to happen?

It seems like Leeds are a long way of securing a deal for Prijovic and the large £8.8million release fee seems out of their reach.

There has also been no official contact yet made by the Yorkshire giants despite eyeing a January swoop, but manager Christiansen could still play an important role.
