Everton enter race for striker Arp

|

Everton are the latest club to join the hunt for in-demand striker Jann-Fiete Arp from Bundesliga side Hamburg, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper claims that the Toffees have been added to the long list of admirers of the 17-year-old that is quickly becoming a young sensation in Germany.

It is understood that the Merseyside club are tracking the progress of the centre-forward, whose current contract expires in 2019.

The report details that Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester City are also keen on the youngster, while Chelsea were interested in his signature last summer.

Arp is an in-demand striker at the age of 17 and has established himself in the Hamburg first team this season with two goals in eight appearances.

He has a brilliant goalscoring record this campaign as he netted five times for Germany’s Under-17s during the October World Cup, while he has also scored seven times for Hamburg’s youth team before earning his senior promotion.

Good move for Everton?

There is no doubt that Everton boss Sam Allardyce needs to sign a new striker in the January transfer window and ideally needs someone with Premier League know-how.

Hamburg talent Arp is certainly a signing that would excite Toffees fans given the way he has burst on to the scene in Germany.

The teenager is being tipped for greatness and has already been compared to Spurs ace Harry Kane.

It would be a brilliant pull if Everton managed to swoop for Arp, but they would preferably also need a more experienced head to bolster their frontline in the immediate future.

Likely to happen?

Everton are the latest team to cast their eye over rising star Arp, but in truth a potential move to Goodison Park seems fairly unlikely.

The Premier League’s big hitters are already in the running for the 17-year-old and he is already expected to make a big-money move later down the line to an elite club.

He does only have 18 months on his existing contract with Hamburg and Everton have shown their willingness to promote youth talents, but have yet to make any official contact for Arp.
