West Ham have tabled a loan offer for Sevilla midfield colossus Steven N’Zonzi, according to the Mail.

The newspaper claim that the Hammers have been rebuffed by the Spanish club in their attempts to take the 6ft 5in ace to the London Stadium for the second half of the campaign.

The Mail report that West Ham’s Premier League rivals Everton are willing to pay the £25million asking price for N’Zonzi, who has been tempted to quit the La Liga club for a return to the Premier League.

The France international starred for Sevilla last season but has been out of the picture since getting substituted at half-time in the 3-3 Champions League draw against Liverpool on November 21

But new Sevilla manager Vincenzo Montella has said he would like to keep N’Zonzi at Sevilla for the time being.

Good move for West Ham?

Yes. N’Zonzi is on a different plane to any central midfielder on West Ham’s books. He was integral to his side’s 2016 Europa League triumph and has taken his game to a new level since quitting Stoke for Spain. Crucially, he has extensive Premier League experience. What a fine signing he would be.

Likely to happen?

If West Ham want N’Zonzi, it is going to take a mega bid to land him. A loan offer will not cut the mustard even though the midfielder has been sidelined for six weeks. With a new manager in place, Sevilla might not be as keen to sell as they were a few weeks back.
