Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli is worth more than £100million.

Alli has risen from young prospect at MK Dons to Spurs and England star, and speculation about him leaving north London has been rife recently.

Pogba was the world’s most expensive player in 2016 when he returned to United for £89million, after being sold to Juventus on the cheap four years earlier.

The two players were part of the Adidas launch of the new Predator boot, where the Frenchman praised Alli for his maturity and made the big claim about his price tag.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Pogba said: “I think he is worth even more than £100m because you see how he plays — he is very talented but still very young.

“But he is mature as well — you can see that in his football. He can deal with the talk. You can see he doesn’t care. He should, and will, focus on his football, and the rest, they will always speak. Always focus on the field.”

Alli was equally complimentary about Pogba, and provided Spurs fans with a small hint on what the future holds.

“Paul is someone who I massively respect. It is very easy to get carried away and buy into all that stuff, but with good people around you, it is easy to stay focused as well. Your priorities in life matter a lot. And if the priority is just football, then you don’t think too much about what people are saying around it,” he said.

OPINION

Anyone can see that Alli is worth over £100million in today’s market, even if he has had an indifferent season so far. What will please Spurs fans however is Alli’s comments about staying focused on his football and not taking notice of the transfer speculation. The maturity that Pogba admits he admires in Alli shines through in those comments, and Spurs fans will be hoping that he does indeed stay focused for the fight ahead.
