Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been dropped by Liverpool for their Premier League clash against Arsenal on Friday night – and the club’s supporters have taken to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction at the decision.
There have been two changes to the side that beat Bournemouth 4-0 last weekend as Sadio Mane and Emre Can replace Georgina Wijnaldum and Oxlade-Chamberlain in the starting XI.
The England international has had a mixed start to his Liverpool career following his £40million transfer from Arsenal in late August but there have been encouraging signs in recent weeks.
He has made 24 appearances so far across all competitions, but has had to make do with mainly substitute appearances and that will be the same against his former club even though he delivered a man-of-the-match display against Bournemouth last weekend.
A section of Liverpool fans on social media are furious that the 24-year-old has been axed and feel he should have retained his spot.

The ox gets man of the match against Bournemouth then gets dropped to the bench for tonight, what’s that doing for his confidence. Got to start over Henderson #lfc

Feel for ox, must be frustrating. Not sure if I fancy watching can walk around sulking, but hey we’ll still win #lfc

Very against the dropping of Oxlade Chamerlain to accommodate Can. Ox deserves his place after his last game. Would also like to see Can phased out, doesn't want to be there. #LFC
